The law has been voted by the British Parliament in May 2016 and only a national reconsideration could weigh on the implementation of this new vaping law.
This new law will bring a certain number of constraints for British vapers but will also be a way to better regulate the vaping market and will guarantee a better product control.
Here below some aspects of the new vaping laws (non-comprehensive list):
-
Market launch:
-
All products (electronic cigarettes, e-liquids, etc.) must be registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
-
-
Packaging:
-
Refill containers must be under 10ml
-
E-cigarette tanks must be under 2ml
-
Child-resistant and tamper proof
-
New labelling requirements and warnings
-
-
Product composition:
-
Nicotine content must be under 20mg
-
No stimulant additives such as taurine, caffeine or others
-
No smoke-coloring additive
-
E-liquids that do not contain nicotine are not concerned by the legislation. Traditional cigarette smokers will also witness changes: packs of 10 cigarettes will be banned, menthol brands will be phased out and packagings will become increasingly graphic.
