Vaping in TV shows

2 Broke Girls

House of Cards

True Detective
The Simpsons
The Simpsons have made more than one reference to vaping over the last few years. In a 2015 episode entitled « Let’s Go Fly A Coot » Bart discovers vaping through Annika, one of Milhouse’s cousin, and he starts buying material at the Kwik-E Market. We can also see Willie vaping from his bagpipe! Among the children who try vaping, we can even witness Maggie, the baby. The episode unsurprisingly triggered a real controversy both among the vaping community, which accused the show of giving a wrong image of the industry and among anti-smoking and youth protection groups, according to which the Simpsons gave a « cool » image of vaping.
Humans
This British show takes place in an alternative present tense where technology has made it possible to create the ‘Synths’, domestic robots who obey human orders. Some of them are mysteriously gifted with a conscience and a true will. Contrary to the Sipsons, the vaping community was very happy to see Detective Drummond, a Special Technologies Task Force officer who has always been suspicious of synths, regularly vape in Season 2.
