Vape Pod + nicotine salts = the vaping combo of the future
Here on Blog-Vape, we often talk about the Juul, although not always in a positive light. In just a few months, Juul Labs has become a giant of not only vaping but the business industry in general, with a valuation of $16 billion.
The origin of the company’s success is of course the Juul, a lightweight e-cigarette that doesn’t even have a button. The device is not expensive and keeps a low profile. However, there is a small problem with the Juul: lightness and compactness mean limited customization options. In recent years, the market has turned towards serious vapers who want a lot of power in their vaping devices (this despite the recent return of mouth to lung vaping, or MTL).
The reason? Liquids with a high nicotine content (18 mg or more) are hard to inhale because they irritate the throat. Vapers have thus turned towards lower levels of nicotine while simultaneously increasing the strength of their devices in order to maintain high dosage levels. This is why many of us now vape around 3mg of nicotine between 25 and 50 watts.
Would you like a bit of acid with that nicotine?
Of course, Juul Labs is aware of the problem, which is why the company is starting to focus researching different e-liquids. And they are quickly realizing something quite interesting: by adding benzoic acid to the free base form of nicotine, the liquid turns into nicotine salt.
Nicotine salt allows users to vape e-liquids with high nicotine content (20, 30 mg and more) without feeling the famous and overpowering nicotine “hit”. This is Juul Labs’ biggest secret, and will without a doubt become part of the future of vaping: a small device that only uses a few watts plus nicotine salts.
The experience of vaping nicotine salts is quite pleasant, even for someone used to heavy vaping. Close to a cigarette, this method will also attract former smokers. The price is also a plus, as vape pods are very affordable. Of course, the pods have to be replaced (they cannot be recycled), but the consumption of e-liquids is so much more wasteful than salts that it will take a long time to reach the 10ml limit. Finally, models with rechargeable vape pods, like the LYNQ, will help vapers save even more money.
